WaterBricks are a great way to store water, food and more. With its puzzle-like locking design, they can be easily stacked up to four feet high without toppling over. They take up a mere fraction of space needed than most water storage units and have a long shelf life. Water bricks last 15 years or more thanks to a special UV additive that protects against cracks, leaks and any other damaging factors over time. The plastic that these bricks are made from is BPA free as well. Use these bricks to store water, food or anything you want to keep dry or stored efficiently while eliminating most food odors. Honeyville water bricks are an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.

Shelf Life: The water bricks can last indefinitely when used properly. Keep in mind that you should rotate your water storage every 6 months.

Uses: Use these bricks to store anything, including food and water. 1 large brick can hold up to 3.5 gallons of water, which weighs about 30 pounds and the small bricks hold up to 1.6 gallons of water, which weighs about 13 pounds.

Allergen Information: This product does not contain any allergens.

Excellent for storage, a few issues with use

Note: Off-grid dry cabin so daily use as well as storage between trips to clean well.

Love them, but they are not perfect.

A++ Durability: my waterbricks have outlasted every other water jug/carboy I have purchased. I used to go through a set a year, and lord help ya if one of them froze or you dropped. I have had one of these fly out of the truck full and empty and it didn't explode or crack. Had one freeze, blew the cap off but didn't crack the brick.

A+ Storage: Once you get the hang of the gaskets and the proper amount to tighten, being able to lay these down in alternating interlocking rows of 2 make exceptionally durable storage towers. Had an earthquake and my waist-high towers didn't budge. Even in a single row in the back of the closet, behind doors are still more stable and the bricks don't deform like the so-called 'stackable' 5 gallon carboys.

A+ Portability: Since these are 3.5 gallons as opposed to 5 or 7, they are much easier to transport. Not an issue if you're a burly guy camping/hunting 1-2 times a year, huge issue for a smaller woman as her only means of water and needing to bring 10 in a week.

Oddities: the removable handles are a good idea, and even folded flat do no inhibit stacking. Having the hooks in opposing directions keeps the handle from inadvertently popping off while carrying or stacked... but it gets in the way at times, needs to be removed if you have a tight seal on the lid since there's no finger room, and the handle doesn't assist much in pouring. So keep it in mind.

Cons:
Pouring - even with the nifty tap (extra) getting the water out of the bricks is awkward because they don't have a second hand or notch on the bottom to pour with. You can use the 'hole' but it's not in a good position for pouring. Also the nifty tap is only good until the brick gets about 1/2 full, then you need to tip the brick to keep the water level at the port, with no handholds, this isn't exceptionally conventient.

Waste - for stability and stacking reasons the (lovely) large mouth and gasketed cap is inset into the shoulders of the brick. When emptying, water collects in these shoulders and you must tip or shake the brick back and forth several times to splash the last bit of water out of them... messy (our solution is to use the last bit to fill the sink, basins, dog bowl and not pitchers, glasses, saucepans). Not a huge issue if you use them all the time, major issue if 1/2 cup of water is left in an empty brick for a while to get musty.

A must have for Preppers

I originally bought 2 of the water bricks for behind the seat in my work truck. I am now stocking up on them for the garage as they stack very neatly on top of each other. definately recommend them to the professional Preppers.

Your description and pictures done explain what the large hole is for in the middle of the brick.

HONEYVILLE RESPONSE: The two holes in the WaterBrick are to help you stack and structure them easier in your storage areas. They do not effect the water storage or container abilities.
