I can't wait to try this out! I agree with Gin (posted 1/19/14) that a comprehensive ingredient list in chart form would be the absolute icing on the cake. I'm new to food storage prep and the 52 Jar method is perfect for me! Maybe a link or pdf on this Honeyville site with the master ingredient list would be a way to solve the missing step?Review by homefrys123
I am so in love with Chef Tess and her MIAJ recipes! This recipe book delivers beautiful, delicious recipes with clear instructions and a long shelf life. What more could I ask?? I can't wait to try each and every one of them!Review by GirlyPrepper
I've been looking for a way to get my ward's younger RS ladies interested in being prepared for emergencies that would be easy and quick and that wasn't boring and overwhelming. This is almost like a craft project that has a real purpose, a bonus of being food storage. There are two things that I wish had been included in the book. First, alternatives for some of the ingredients like the spices. Second, a comprehensive ingredient list in a chart form at the back of the book listing the Honeyville products need to be purchased for each recipie. That way when a person goes to purchase the ingredients for one recipe they like they can see if what they need to purchased might also be in another recipe saving time in making a shopping list.Review by Gin
I got this book to put together fun meals in jars as gifts and all have gotten good reviews. Then I decided to give the actual book as the gift and was lucky enough to have Chef Tess sign them for the recipients. Now I need one more because another friend was jealous! LOLReview by Donna L
Thanks Cheff Tess for the fabulous book. It's bee a lot of fun!
I was so excited to get this cookbook. I am ALL about the canning jar and using it for meals in a jar. I have a few other jar meal cookbooks. This one is well put together and the recipes as mentioned above are a little fancier than most, but there are basics as well. The one thing that is challenging to me is the specialty ingredients such as powdered soy sauce, powdered hickory smoke flavor, and powdered apple cider vinegar. I just ordered them online, but these 3 ingredients cost me $50 for a 16 oz. pkg. of each. It's a commitment. I hope it was worth it. I also struggle not having Chef Tess seasoning which she uses in quite a few recipes but does not give an alternative spice if you do not own this. I am using seasoning salt, and I hope that works.Review by ConnieG
I was really looking forward to this cookbook, I have a lot of food storage and wanted to put meals together. There are some good recipes in the book but so many are things we would not eat, I guess I'm looking for some comfort food recipes. 1 example, Chicken and sweet potato with citrus sauce and rice. These recipes are fancier than I cook.Review by Julie
I love this book for making meals in a jar because I KNOW what's IN dinner! It's even more important now that I have a Gluten Allergy. So many things are off limits at the store. I love the Condensed Soup recipes because I can make them gluten free and still enjoy meals that call for cream of mushroom and celery soups. Chef Tess has even included some gluten free recipes! Helpful for paring down my meals in a jar for one or 2 people too!Review by Colleen
