Unique to Honeyville, our steel cut oats go through a filtering process that helps ensure only the best quality oats are selected before being cleaned and cut. The minimal processing of Steel cut oats helps to keep all of the nutrients intact, making them a rich source of soluble fiber, protein, and vitamins, as well as other nutrients like selenium, thiamin, phosphorous, and magnesium.

My favorite breakfast

We've ordered two 50-kb bags over the past year. The shipping time is expedient, the price is right and the oats are clean and fresh tasting. Storage hasn't been a problem- we repackage into 1-gallon plastic zip bags, push out air and freeze until needed. Bring a bag to room temperature without opening so that the oats don't take up moisture, and store for daily use in a snap plastic-lidded glass container. A recipe we developed (and really enjoy) for 2 servings is: 2 cups water, 3/4 cup oats, 2 T. quinoa, 1 T. flax seeds, 1/4 cup golden raisins, 1/4 tsp. salt. Bring to boil and simmer about 20 min. Top with toasted almonds, and a bit of brown sugar and milk to taste.

Great product

I love these steel-cut oats and order by case of the No. 10 cans, and I am only cooking for myself! Shelf life, even if the cans are opened, is outstanding. I put water and oats for one serving in a small glass jar surrounded by more water in a small slow cooker, leave it on low overnight, and they are ready for breakfast in the morning. Great with raisins and brown sugar.

3rd bag

Third time I've ordered these 50 lb bags. Best price I can find. I've tried oats from multiple countries and, for my tastes, these are as good as any for a fraction of the price. Great deal.

Great breakfast oats

For the last couple of years we've been eating these steel cut oats for breakfast on most mornings - along with other foods of course. We add a bit of brown sugar or honey and some raisins, etc. I cook up a batch on Sunday and then spoon out bowls and nuke them each morning so I only have to cook the oats once a week. It's healthy and very cost effective. I tried buying 50 pounds of loose oats and storing them in 5 gallon buckets with gamma seal lids, but they didn't stay fresh and I would end up feeding the bottom half to the chickens. The chickens loved it, but it was expensive animal feed. Now I buy cases of the #10 cans which work much better even though they're a bit more expensive per unit. Penny wise/pound foolish... "Price" is different from "value". I have multiple cases in my food storage which I rotate. "Just in case".
