Honeyville Steel Cut Oats are whole grain oat groats that have been cut into smaller pieces. The difference between rolled and steel cut oats is that steel cut leaves the endosperm intact, making them healthier than rolled.

The Honeyville filtering process helps ensure that only the best quality oats are selected to progress to the cleaning and cutting process. This minimal processing retains all of the nutrients that people look for in their oats. Steel cut oats are a rich source of fiber, protein, and magnesium. Not only are you able to eat them as oatmeal but they add health benefits to bread, cookies, muffins, pie crust, and protein shakes. All of that simply makes our oats a cut above the rest.

Shelf-Life:  Stores for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months. All other packaging such as the 50lb bag and 2lb bag have a shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions:  For hot cereal, add 1 part oats to 6 parts boiling water. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for up to 45 minutes stirring occasionally. In the final 15 minutes, reduce heat to low and stir as needed. A pressure cooker will work the best for cooking steel cut oats.

Uses:  Steel Cut Oats can be used as a delicious hot cereal, or as a healthy and flavorful ingredient in oatmeal cookies, multi-grain breads, rolls and more

Great Buy

I used to buy Quaker Steel Cut oats after the cheaper competition was dropped from our local store but didn't like the price. I bought this 50 lb bag which cost only 1/3 the price of the Quaker oats based on a per lb price. The taste and texture is perfect and the packaging and shipping time was superb. I was surprised to see the location of the milling company that packaged the oats because my grandfather farmed less than 2 hours away (40 years ago). It is in the heart of great grain country!

Awesome breakfast

Our whole family eats these steel cut oats every morning. We wouldn't go back to cereal or rolled oats ever again! Great topped with pecans flax seed meal and honey (the kids love strawberries or raisins).

Great Oats!

Very similar to the expensive oats you can buy in a tin but MUCH cheaper. Delicious cooked in the crockpot overnight or ground and made into oatmeal cinnamon pancakes.

Great Breakfast Cereal!

I make up enough to take into work for the entire week and add some with fruit (peaches strawberries blueberries all work great!) flax seed soy or rice milk! And sometimes chopped nuts and dried cranberries. Super yummy great texture. For any of the bulk products I order the 50 lbs and put it in gallon ziploc bags freeze for a day or two then store in coolers in the garage and bring in as needed. Excellent product!

Consumer

We have been buying these for the past few months. Our family of 5 has these for breakfast every morning Monday through Saturday. Our preferred method of preparation is to put the oats water sea salt and raisins (if desired) in a covered pan at night before going to bed giving the oats time to soak up some water so cooking doesn't take so long in the morning. Three of us like the oats with brown sugar and peanut butter and two prefer with brown sugar and chopped walnuts. All of us like some smart balance (or your preferred butter product). Steel cut oats are good for us and this bag makes them very affordable. As I said we have these 6 days a week and we have not yet grown weary of them! I'm getting ready to order our third bag since September 2009.

Great Shipping .... Great Product!!!

I was really worried about shipping such a product. However I was relieved when I saw UPS drive up and the 50 lb bag was in a box. The order shipped without any issues and the bag was in PERFECT condition. Also the Steel Cut Oats tastes GREAT!!! What a great buy. To cook on the stove: 1) 1 part oats to 2 parts water i.e. 1/2 cups of oats. 1 cup of water. (optional: ½ cup water ½ milk) 2) 1/8 teaspoon of salt or less (this is a must). 3) cook on medium heat so that the oats have time to thoroughly cook. 4) add sugar and any other toppings such as nuts cinnamon fruit etc.

Great product great value

We've always preferred steel-cut oats so it was fabulous to find an excellent product from Honeyville Farms. The taste is fresher than anything else we've tried and it's a real value. We highly recommend it.
