Honeyville Steel Cut Oats are whole grain oat groats that have been cut into smaller pieces. The difference between rolled and steel cut oats is that steel cut leaves the endosperm intact, making them healthier than rolled.

The Honeyville filtering process helps ensure that only the best quality oats are selected to progress to the cleaning and cutting process. This minimal processing retains all of the nutrients that people look for in their oats. Steel cut oats are a rich source of fiber, protein, and magnesium. Not only are you able to eat them as oatmeal but they add health benefits to bread, cookies, muffins, pie crust, and protein shakes. All of that simply makes our oats a cut above the rest.

Shelf-Life:  Stores for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months. All other packaging such as the 50lb bag and 2lb bag have a shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions:  For hot cereal, add 1 part oats to 6 parts boiling water. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for up to 45 minutes stirring occasionally. In the final 15 minutes, reduce heat to low and stir as needed. A pressure cooker will work the best for cooking steel cut oats.

Uses:  Steel Cut Oats can be used as a delicious hot cereal, or as a healthy and flavorful ingredient in oatmeal cookies, multi-grain breads, rolls and more

Great deal!

I bought the 50lb bag and split it with a neighbor. What a great deal. I know she was paying $7+ for that Irish one in the grocery store and I was paying $1.39-$1.49lb in the bulk section. I have used 5 lbs so far and they are perfect!

Cookiing Steel Cut Oats

I buy the 50 Lb. sack of steel cut oats and when I cook them I cook three cups of oats and 6 cups of water in a large pot on medium heat until the oats are firm and the water has been absorbed by the oats. When the oats have cooled I place them in a quart size plastic container which I keep in the referigator and eat for breakfast every day. All I need to do is spoon out the amount I want into a bowl and add raisins or dried apricots and put the bowl in the microave for 3 minutes. Then I sprinkle ground cinnamon on the top and mix vanilla rice milk which I buy at Trader Joe's with it and enjoy a breakfast that lasts until lunch. Steel cut oats are the most healthy oats for one to eat and when I first tried them I got hooked on them and won't eat rolled oats again. I have found Honeyville Farms to have the highest quality steel cut oats on the market and it isn't worth it to me to buy from anyone else because nobody has met the high quality standards of steel cut oats sold by Honeyville Farms. It is worth it to pay the cost as one won't find any steel cut oats of such high quality being sold by anyone else at a reasonable price than that being offered by Honeyville Farms.

Awesome Oats!!!

These oats are the best I've ever had they taste so good and they are whole so they still have all the nutrients in them. I let mine soak over night in 4 parts water and just heat them in the microwave and they are ready to go. I don't add anything to mine because I prefer the natural taste.

Best tasting oats!!!

I buy these oats by the sack they are amazingly good. I read how people cook them and add all kinds of stuff to them but in reality these oats are delicious by themselves. I prefer mine straight up with just water I just grind mine a little bit more so they have a more Quacker oats flavor and consistency.

Best of Oats

I've tried a number of steel cut oats and have found nothing that tastes better then these...(NOTHING) I don't know how or why. You would think that an Oat was an oat. I was reading a favorite recipe from the site and decide I would add one.

Cooking Steel Cut Oats

This is the greatest make sure you use 4 cups of water or milk to one cup of oats the new cans are now saying 6-1 and that wont work. I cook mine 45 min. or longer. Keep the pan covered and on low once it starts to boil. My daughter has a small crock pot and sets it at night and by morning she has her oatmeal all ready for the family. She says she doesnt have time in the morning to make it. Just a hint to busy Mothers or Fathers. We buy by the case even though there are only two of us because of the great deal the cans keep for 10 yrs!!! Ours dont!!! Five days out of seven we have our steel cut hot oatmeal and love it I say we are addicted!!

Love them!

My whole family loves these. Nice and hardy great with the freeze dried fruit added. We also cook them with 4-1 ratio and leave the lid off the pan stirring occasionally (adding water if needed).

I don't even like oatmeal...

Honestly I have never liked oatmeal - and I think it is because all my life all I ever had what was everyone calls "oatmeal". I could stomach the instant stuff - as long as it wasn't gooey but if you read the label once you get past all the sugar and extras added you have very little true oatmeal. I tried Honeyville's steel cut oats because they looked interesting and I love everything else I've ever got from Honeyville. Steel cut oats are the BEST and so very simple to cook. All you have to do is add 1 cup of the oats to 5 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt (very important). Place all in your crockpot give a good stir and cook on high for approximately 2 hours (I use an older 4 quart crockpot for this). Check them once after about an hour and stir. After 2 hours you have the best oatmeal ever - and you don't need to add a thing to it - best of all - when you fix it this way you have several mornings covered for breakfast - just reheat in micro-safe bowl for a minute and you're set. It couldn't get any easier or better. My son who requires Honeyville's freeze dried strawberries by the truckload even let me sprinkle a few of those on top with some of the dried blueberries too - now that is awesome!

Oatmeal I can eat

The texture of rolled oats did not agree with me. I love these though! We cook a large batch on Sunday and put it in the fridge. Everyone eats them for breakfast during the week - just put in microwave for 2 minutes. We add the freeze dried rasberries or strawberries. Yummy!! Even the 3 year old asks for it!
