Honeyville's Flavored-Like Sausage Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is actually a meat analogue product made through a special extrusion process which provides a 100% vegetable product that approaches the taste and texture of meat. This highly nutritious vegetarian meat substitute is processed from defatted soy flour which contains more than 52% protein and 18% total dietary fiber. TVP has been used for many years in U.S. Food Nutritional Service programs and has been an integral part of the School Lunch program. Because of the recognized health and nutritional benefit of soy protein in the diet and the added benefit of low moisture and low fat content, Honeyville Flavored-like Sausage TVP is an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.

Shelf-Life: Sausage Flavored TVP will store for 10 to 20 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions: Add one part textured vegetable protein to one part hot water. Allow sausage TVP to hydrate for about 15 minutes. Adding ½ cup textured vegetable protein to ½ cup of water will yield about 1 cup of cooked meat substitute.

Uses: Sausage Flavored TVP can be used separately or in combination with meat as an effective meat extender in omelets, pizza toppings, meat sauces, pastas and more.

Ingredients: TVP (soy flour, caramel color), partially hydrogenated soybean oil, water, salt, sugar, hydrolyzed corn-soy-wheat protein, natural flavorings, corn syrup, maple syrup.

Allergen information: Contains soy. This product is produced on equipment that processes products containing soy, wheat, milk, egg, peanut, and tree nuts.

Wow... it's wonderful!

I had been fighting a "biscuit and sausage gravy" craving for a month at least. I would not go to the restaurants because I don't eat real pork or high fat meats any more than I just have to due to my high cholesterol level. I made some dry country gravy mix and added about 1/4 cup of this Sausage Flavored TVP to it and to my amazement it was absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for a very true to taste product.

Quite Amazed

Mixed with Scrambled eggs in gravy or alone I was surprised by the taste of this stuff. We try new stuff for the camping and hiking trips and this will add great taste to morning breakfasts.

We absolutely love this product and cannot wait to try the chicken and beef TVP. It smells and tastes wobderful and when rehydrated properly it is hard to tell the difference between real sausage. I enjoy the fact it is plant protein and not an actualy animal product. Trust this line of products!

Good stuff

Love the smell of this stuff. The added maple syrup really adds to it. It tastes pretty good too. My only complaint would be the 'aftertaste' I get from it. All TVP does it to me so this one isn't any different in that respect. I'm a fairly new vegetarian and just wanted to add something that tasted like something I used to eat. Not yet sure if I'll be getting it again or not. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I finish the can.

Vegetarian Substitute

This stuff is fantastic! I just had some stuffed in a tortilla it was pretty good and really fast. I guess I'll be buying more sausage flavored TVP in the future - and this time it was so good I will likely experiment with different flavors. It isn't exactly like sausage just like bacos aren't really like bacon. However it is pretty close - I would say closer than the typical soy bacon bits taste to their meat analogue.

AWESOME!

Reconstitute a pinch or two in warm water for around 10-15 minutes and add them to your eggs. Scramble up and enjoy! We even use this product to make vegetarian sausage gravy for biscuits. I love it and trust me I am very particular about my biscuits and gravy. We bought a single can to try and now we are ordering a case. You can't go wrong with this sausage flavored TVP.

Does it really need a title?

Not bad. Granule size is on par with the normal beef TVP. Spice mixture does remind me of Jimmy Dean or slightly spicier. Nice to see this on the website have been picking up at the Chandler AZ outlet store.

the one who cooks

I was very surprised and pleased with this sausage flavored TVP. You should let it sit for a while after rehydrating and before cooking to let the yummy flavors come out fully. I made a batch keeping part in the fridge and used this to make 2 or 3 breakfasts of scrambled egg with "sausage." You could make a wonderful breakfast burrito with this too. You don't have to but I sometimes add a little canola oil to some of the TVP products and let them soak up that as well as the water. I find that a little oil or even margarine makes the products richer and even more flavorful.
