Honeyville's Flavored-Like Beef Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is actually a meat analogue product made through a special extrusion process which provides a 100% vegetable product that approaches the taste and texture of meat. This highly nutritious vegetarian meat substitute is processed from defatted soy flour which contains more than 52% protein and 18% total dietary fiber. TVP has been used for many years in U.S. Food Nutritional Service programs and has been an integral part of the School Lunch program. Because of the recognized health and nutritional benefit of soy protein in the diet and the added benefit of low moisture and low fat content, Honeyville Flavored-like Beef TVP is an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.

Shelf-Life: Beef Flavored TVP will store for 10 to 20 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions:  Add one part textured vegetable protein to one part hot water. Allow beef TVP to hydrate for about 15 minutes. Adding ½ cup textured vegetable protein to ½ cup of water will yield about 1 cup of cooked meat substitute.

Uses:  Beef Flavored TVP can be used separately or in combination with meat as an effective meat extender in burritos, tacos, soups, pastas and more.

I want to tell you how I make my t.v.p. beef. I get the water real hot in the microwave and then I put in one forth
cup of the beef and I let it stay in a coverd bowl for one hour and then I drain the water and heat the beef for
about a minute and then I put a slice of cheese and catchup on my bread and then I spread the beef all over
the bread and this makes a yummy sandwich.have a happy and a wonderful day. may god bless you in everything you say and do for him. gail whitworth.

Family prefers this to real beef

I use the beef flavored TVP for taco "meat" and in dishes like "hamburger" helper. We recently ran out of the TVP and I had to use real beef for our tacos. The kids said they liked the TVP better. Eating more than a small aount of real meat hurts my stomach. It's nice to be able to have a good substitute that allows me to enjoy dishes that call for ground beef. I am going to order a case so I don't run out.

A good product

I have finished the whole can and after using it in a few different ways I am reordering it because they way I used it was great. I rehydrate it sautee it in a bit of oil with the seasoning onions etc I am using for spaghetti sauce chili etc.....I add the other liquids and simmer it for an hour...like I would have beef in a sauce. It comes out so well that the resident carnivore does not know it is not beef. In fact she goes out of her way to praise it. I like it very much.

Gross! Couldn't PAY me to eat any more!

I only used this product once! The smell alone when I opened the can was reminiscent of dog food. The taste was identical. The texture was fine but as a fledgling vegan You couldn't pay my husband or me to eat another serving of this! I tried masking the flavors with strong latin cooking and all it did was ruin my dish. I cooked the same dish with the unflavored TVP bought here and it was amazing! I highly recommend that if you're looking for a "beef" substitute just use the unflavored TVP granules... This product is just nasty!

Makes a wonderful veggie beef hash

I used the beef flavored TVP to make an awesome hash today. 1/2 c beef tvp rehydrated 1/2 c brocolli 1/2 c brown rice 1 small can of mushrooms drained 1/2 t italian seasoning a little extra spicy mrs. D blend salt and pepper to taste heat in skillet then take 1/4 c Honeyville egg whites and 3/4 c warm water mix together then pour over the other ingredients stir until cooked to desired consistency. Makes two good servings. The flavor of the beef perfectly compliments the brocolli and mushrooms and eggs together... This may sound horrible to some but try it! Honeyville's products are awesome they've earned a lifetime customer here.

Work just fine

So far I have used it in Chili Vegetable soup Beef gravy and Stew no one was the wiser taste good and seems to play well with others. It seems to be better accepted when mixed with real meat.

Makes Great Meatballs!

Took the lead from another reviewer...hydrated ground in my food processor and used it to make meatballs. I used the same recipe from my pre veggie days and they turned out great! A lot less expensive than the frozen meat replacement product I use and more convenient as I don't always have the frozen version on hand. Next up TVP meat loaf which I'm expecting to be a success. Will never be without this.

Deliciously Deceiving

We are testing these products to see if healthier eating is going to be as painful as people think eating soy is. Our order arrived today and I made spaghetti using the beef flavor. Yum! And my children all 7 off them didn't know the difference. In fact they loved it. They also really enjoyed the chocolate milk too. We are definitely making this a norm.
