Honeyville Steel Cut Oats are whole grain oat groats that have been cut into smaller pieces. The difference between rolled and steel cut oats is that steel cut leaves the endosperm intact, making them healthier than rolled.

The Honeyville filtering process helps ensure that only the best quality oats are selected to progress to the cleaning and cutting process. This minimal processing retains all of the nutrients that people look for in their oats. Steel cut oats are a rich source of fiber, protein, and magnesium. Not only are you able to eat them as oatmeal but they add health benefits to bread, cookies, muffins, pie crust, and protein shakes. All of that simply makes our oats a cut above the rest.

Shelf-Life:  Stores for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 6 to 12 months. All other packaging such as the 50lb bag and 2lb bag have a shelf life of 6 to 12 months.

Instructions:  For hot cereal, add 1 part oats to 6 parts boiling water. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for up to 45 minutes stirring occasionally. In the final 15 minutes, reduce heat to low and stir as needed. A pressure cooker will work the best for cooking steel cut oats.

Uses:  Steel Cut Oats can be used as a delicious hot cereal, or as a healthy and flavorful ingredient in oatmeal cookies, multi-grain breads, rolls and more

Microwave

How long do you recommend cooking a half a cup with milk in the microwave?

HONEYVILLE RESPONSE: Brian, Steel Cut Oats do not cook like quick rolled oats, so we wouldn't recommend trying to cook them in the microwave. Using a slow cooker or Pressure Cooker is the best way to cook these oats. Remember, this is the whole Oat groat, cut in half, so the outer shell is still in tact. That means you get all the whole grain health benefits, but they don't cook as quickly as a rolled oat.

The Best Steel Cut Oats Money Can Buy!

Honeyville Grain's Steel Cut Oats are amazing. The product comes fresh and flavorful to your door. If you have a rice cooker fill it with your desired amount of steel cut oats add an inch and a half of water above the level of the grain and cook as you would regular rice. It comes out FANTASTIC!!! A little cinnamon a splash of soymilk and maple syrup and you will be amazed. I will never eat rolled oats again!

First time I heard them called "survival food." I enjoy them almost every morning. My easy recipe: The night before 1/4 cup in a bowl. 3/4 cup water. Place a plate over the bowl. Place in microwave for 2 minutes or less (depends on the power of your microwave). Leave there overnight. First thing when you get up in the morning stir contents of bowl. Put some raisins in the mix. Cook for another 2 minutes. Go about preparing for your day and then the oats are perfect. Add yogurt berries a banana or whatever and enjoy a healthy breakfast!

Very nice!

For several years I have purchased steel cut oats in 24 ounce containers. I've tried all the brands carried locally: Quaker Oats Bob’s Red Mill and McCann’s Irish Oatmeal. Recently the price has been about $6.50 a package. So the $63.50 I spent with Honeyville would have cost over $200 in any grocery store. Additionally the quality of these oats is far superior to any I’ve ever purchased. They are the cleanest I have seen. You won’t be disappointed!

Good buy!

Fresher and cleaner than the tiny containers I paid top-dollar for at the local box store. If you love steel-cut oats and you have the space to store it this is a great buy.

so much better price and quality than Fresh Market!

I paid less than $1 a pound for the Steel Cut Oats from you all and compared to my local vendor for these Fresh Market there's just no comparison.

Fine oats they are

Nutty chewy and delicious. The longer you cook them the softer and creamier they get. Cook them the night before and save them for a week in the fridge. Or just presoak them overnight and they cook in ten minutes.
