The flavor is great, almost like roasted or sauteed carrots. The texture can be stringy if not cooked through. It's not too bad as a dry snack, but it sticks to your teeth. It's best used because of the concentrated flavors for slow cookers and braises. It's a flavor ingredient more than a texture one. Great addition to the tomato powder for balancing sauces. Also brings bland grocery store tomato's to life in small quantities, but nothing replaces good tomatoes. I grind it for those purposes.Review by willy (Posted on 2/6/14)
