No waste, but use is limited

I absolutely love this product, but I only use it in recipes like beef stroganoff or some creamy sauces and soups, or mashed potatoes. Cooked into a recipe, it is great. I used to throw out half the sour cream I would buy since I could never use it up before it would mold. Now, I don't have to remember to get some at the store prior to making something, and I never throw out left over sour cream.

I find it does not work well for chips and dip recipes, as I cannot seem to get the taste and consistency correct.

I will keep this in my long term storage, and use it regularly in my day to day menus.

For cooking - not fresh eating

Since the fat has been removed for drying purposes this product will never yield a creamy sour cream. It's not condiment quality so don't expect to put a dollop on nachos or make onion dip. However it does add a wonderful sour cream flavor and thickness to white sauces scrambled eggs & omelets and instant potatoes. I use it often to make the sauce for beef stroganoff cheesey vegetable casseroles and escalloped and au gratin potatoes; and it's my "secret ingredient" for instant mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs from regular whole egg powder.

Geek

Tried four times to use this and the results ranged from disappointing to disgusting. No matter what this will not reconstitute to a 'cream' nor will the taste continuum even approach that of 'sour cream'. About the only honest thing about it is that it will indeed taste 'sour'. : )

Can't find a good use

I honestly can't find a good use for this unless I'm just doing something wrong. Can't reconstitute it back to a "sour cream" like substance all I can do is add the dry powder and a little extra water/milk but then the flavor is off as well.

Terrible

Purchased a case of sour cream powder opened a can and thought it smelled terrible. I made up a batch chilled over night and it firmed up to the right texture. Taste is terrible. I do not recommend. Wish I could send my case back.

We did not like this

The directions say 1 to 1 but it is 4(sour cream powder) to 1(water.) Even after placing in fridge wouldn't thicken and the flavor is bad. We really did not like this product.
