Our beans cook quickly, in as little as 20 minutes, for a flavorful and healthy dish. If an emergency arises, you won’t need to worry about whether your family is getting the nutrition they need if you have red beans in your food storage. Interesting, recipe needs work

I just made bean and rice fajita casserole from The Meals in a Jar handbook. Invested in all the Honeyville products to make it as a trial before constructing multiples of this recipe in jars. Since the beans lack texture when cooked, I ended up with a cumin-flavored mush. I'm not giving up, but will fiddle with it. I'll try parboiled rice to help the texture problem, add more water to loosen up the mush, and put in a little chili powder and halve the cumin. Yes, I remember that this is emergency food, but I think it can still come closer to regular table food. If the above changes don't help, I'll move on to other recipes in the book and report on them.
