Instructions to Reconstitute One Egg:
  • add 2 tablespoons of powdered eggs to 3 tbsps of water
  • if mixing with other dry ingredients, reconstitution is not necessary

Great for cooking

This can be used in any baking recipe calling for eggs and you absolutely cannot tell any difference whatsoever. Very happy with this product. We also tried making scrambled eggs with it and well it tastes like powdered eggs but we expected that so no complaints on that score. If you've ever eaten military chow you know what to expect.

A good buy good for cooking

These are great for baking or cooking. I use them in everything. I tried eating them straight though and that wasn't so good. They taste great but the texture is very different because the yolks and whites are combined so thoroughly. I think it would be okay in emergencies or with something like ham and veggies mixed in but just straight is not for me. I will definately keep buying this product for all my cooking and baking though!

Good for all recipes

Used these in various recipes and they work EXACTLY like fresh eggs. Tried as simple scrambled eggs and they *taste* the same but the color isn't natural. So fine like that for emergencies but we'll stick to using it for cooking not scrambling ...

Great for backpacking/emergencies

I ordered this product for backpacking use. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product. I think that the best comparison would be the eggs that you get on a mcgriddles sandwich. There is not much difference between this and a fresh scrambled egg when prepared as directed. This product would be excellent (there could have been a pun there but it was too easy) for backpacking/camping/emergency foodstuffs. Highly recommended. I would buy this product again.

Wonderful Product

We bought the 50lb bag and our whole family gives this product rave reviews. We have actually started eating more eggs since we started using the Powdered Whole Eggs. These are not just for baking and mixes. They are wonderful however you use eggs. We are eating more omelets scrambled eggs cakes egg breads and even to glaze the tops of non-egg bread recipes. We bought this for our food storage but we aren't saving them for a time of need we ended up using them daily. What convenience we are never out of eggs!

Great for Everthing just tweek it.

The eggs are great. Even for scrabbled 1. Use whole milk to rehydrate and put twice as much liquid as they say (start at 4 to 1 milk to eggs and adjust from there to your taste(s) Too much liquid is always better than too little). 2. Mix them and let them sit as long as possible. 3. Cook over low-mid flame/heat until they start to set. 4. For scramble chop the eggs and fold do not stir! 5. Use plenty of butter/oil. If you cook these are easy to use. If you can't cook you get a mess. If done properly you can barely tell the difference. If you under-hydrate they will be "yokey" and dry and you will get dis-coloration and "crispies" on the edges. If you over over-hydrate just cook the extra liquid off slowly. I bought 50 lbs....

Tastes Nothing Like Scrambled Eggs

I bought these powdered eggs to use on my backpacking hikes. I read one review that said My husband couldn't tell the difference. Not true. I tried to cook them according to the directions and various other methods that I had found on the internet. Nothing I did to these powdered eggs made them edible (at least as scrambled eggs or omlets). Even with mixing them with other foods and condiments I couldn't eat them. I am dissappointed in my purchase. Fair warning. If you intend to use them to cook scrambled eggs don't waste your time or money.

Honest Review

Honestly we have to say that we are a bit disappointed with this product. We purchased this product to be used on camping/hiking trips and possible emergencey situations. In an emergency situation this would be a decent product for any other situation though probably not. Following the manufacturers instructions and cooked as scrambled eggs produced a dark egg like substance that slightly tasted like eggs. The texture is semi-similar to scrambled eggs but the combination of the texture and taste makes them barely barable to eat. Price and shelf life though make this a product to consider for emergencys. After all given the right amount of hunger one will consume just about anything.

Good for what they are

Most people find powdered eggs pretty disgusting. I approached it with an open mind having worked in the food industry and also being aware that powdered egg product is in lots of mixes already. I was a little disappointed when I tried to make scrambled eggs with these they are edible but do not taste nearly as good as fresh eggs. The reconstituted egg is very watery and doesn't fluff up at all when you cook it. That having been said I tried them in a pancake recipe and that worked great so they are fine for baking as well. I don't use very many eggs so I will definitely keep some of these around for all my shelf stable egg needs. Using them for scrambled eggs remains an emergency contingency however.
