Professional Geek - Part#2

Well Honeyville Farms did actually publish the negative review I posted - kudos to them for not censoring unfavorable reviews like so many other sites. I guess that means you can trust these reviews a little more then you may otherwise - nice for the rest of us. : ) As for an addendum I've been using a concentration of 2:1 or 2.25:1 water-to-sauce and the results are pretty good. A nice cheesy flavor thick enough to hold together (ie; no longer soup-like) no need for additional butter though I frequently add some powdered milk substitute as well - about a tablespoon per half cup cheese powder. Adding a sharp salsa makes for great mexican dishes and mixing with broccoli cauliflower and chicken is also a simple tasty dish.

Will buy again

I liked this product. I primarily use it to sprinkle on popcorn, but I also use it in casseroles. I found that if you want to use it for Mac and cheese you either need to add in a good amount of regular cheese or its very bland. In other words its good for those days when your just about out of cheese and need something to stretch it.

I haven't had problems with it clumping. The color is a little off putting. But over all I'm pleased with the cheese powder and will buy it again.

Some tips

Im sorry for the previous review. I do agree with the orange color. But here are some tricks I found. I don't guarantee they will work for you...

Mixing if I remember right right it's about 2 to 1 ratio. You use boiling water. I understand about the clumps. I took my blender--I forget it's name. It's the single upright blender you put in a cup. Anyway I used that and mixed and whipped til everything was smooth. It only took a couple of minutes.

I haven't tried it over my ham and cheese fold over sandwiches. I just tried the ham and sausage both of which are great. I'll let you know later after I test this...

But do you use a blender or food processor to mix this up.

LOVE Honeyville products - HATE this Powdered Cheese!

Let me start out by saying I have LOVED everything I have ever bought from Honeyville, and have come to trust all their high quality products. NOT with this stuff!
OMG - it's TERRIBLE! I was expecting (hoping for) something that would taste even remotely like processed cheese, like Velveeta, for example. I opened the can the day after I received it, so it is nowhere near its expiration date. The product looks fresh, but when it's mixed in hot water (doesn't mix very easily and clumps immediately) it tastes very 'stale' and old, and not very much like cheese at all. The color is extremely bright orange, and looks very artificial. I'm sure it's safe to eat but I will be hard-pressed to bring myself to pour it over any perfectly good food.

I'm uneasy about giving it a '1' rating for quality because it probably does have good 'food value', however, I must due to the terrible taste (none of us liked it).

[I'm very sorry for the bad review, but I'm just being honest]
