The LifeStraw Family 1.0 by Vestergaard is a water sanitation device that enables you to safely filter water, on-the-go. This purifier is easy to carry, as well as store. There’s no need to worry about not having drinking water with the LifeStraw because it’s capable of filtering just over 4,700 gallons – more than enough to sustain a family without access to freshwater, whether it’s during an emergency or while camping.
How It Works: Hang the filter straight up; fill the pre-filter with water; open the red tap until some water is released for 10 seconds; fill the pre-filter with water, again; open the blue tap and let filtered water pour into a clean storage container. DO NOT DRINK WATER FROM THE RED TAP.
This is definitely a tool you will not want to be without. In an emergency situation like an earthquake, flood, hurricane, landslide, tornado, or tsunami, this personal, portable water filtration system is just the insurance policy you need. Life Straw prevents common waterborne diseases including: Cholera, Cryptosporidium, Cyclosporiasis, Diarrheal Disease, Dysentery, Gastroenteritis, Giardiasis, Guinea Worm, Hepatitis E, Typhoid Fever, and more. The LifeStraw does have some limitations; it will not filter heavy metals, salt water, or industrial chemicals. What the filter does do is limit your exposure to dangerous bacteria. You Need It Because:

I did purchase mine last year (from a different website) but did want to leave my review here.Review by Bets (Posted on 7/13/2016)
1st - Buying a Lifestraw water filter helps those in countries that only have dirty ponds or puddles to get water.
2nd - I can hang this from a door or outside from a branch which means it is very portable.
3rd - We have a water filter connected to our faucet but it won't be any good when the water goes out & all other problems we will probably have this year before elections in Nov 2016. - And why I purchased this filter. But before storing it, I put about a gallon of water that I got directly from the faucet (not the filter) which has chlorine in it & I do not like the taste & why we have the water filter connection. -
Well, I filtered this water using this Life Straw filter & it tastes as good as the water from our water filter connection. That satisfied me!
