Honeyville Freeze Dried Peas are produced in a process where moisture is removed from the product using a very low temperature and a vacuum. Only about 3 percent moisture remains in the product at the time of packaging. The end product weight is reduced by over 90 percent, while the volume stays the same. This remarkable process concentrates the fresh taste, natural color, and texture of peas.

When rehydrated, the product will absorb the liquid and resemble fresh peas once again. The taste is great, and the nutritional value is preserved. Freeze drying provides natural and additive free vegetables to be stored effectively for long periods of time. Honeyville Freeze Dried Peas are an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.

Shelf-Life:  Freeze Dried Peas will store for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 12 to 18 months.

Instructions:  Add 3 parts water to 1 part green pea. Allow Freeze Dried Peas to hydrate for about 20 minutes or until fully rehydrated. Honeyville's Freeze Dried Peas can replace fresh prepared green peas at a rate of 5 to 1. That means that each can of Freeze Dried Peas is the equivalent of about 6 pounds of fresh green peas.

Uses:  Freeze Dried Peas can be used separately or in combination with casseroles, soups, pastas and more.

Great toddler snack

My son loves to eat his "crunchy peas" as an on-the-go snack I can keep in my purse without worry of them going bad or spoiling.

Love them!

Love these. Use them in everything. So easy. Throw them in soup macaroni and cheese etc. We even eat them plain sometimes. They taste kind of like popcorn but more bland plain.

Wonderful snack

I also find pleasure in eating these straight from the can. Currently I've only used them in cooking twice as I'm still building my inventory for cooking & jar meals. However every time I'm in close proximity of these small gems it's an absolute must that I grab some to snack on. You'll love them also.

Buy the case or pay shipping twice. They're that GOOD!

Of course we bought these for cooking. However we have since discovered that a handful is a great snack. Now I have trouble keeping them in stock because everyone grabs some as they walk out of the pantry. I am hypoglycemic so a handful takes the wobbly dizziness away between meals. Add them to any dish while cooking or serve them alone. These have a wonderful sweet fresh taste just like the ones we grow. This was a review on the first case I purchased. Since then our homegrown peas have come in and these are actually sweeter and tastier than our homegrown this year!

Tasty!

We eat these straight out of the can as a snack and in soups/salads after rehydrating. Sweet and tender when rehydrated; slightly sweet and crunchy (not powdery) when straight out of the can. I think we'll try tossing them with a bit of salt and a few drops of olive oil (to make the salt stick) too so make a salted peas snack!

Amazing Peas Taste Fresh!

As usual I was skeptical but these peas rehydrate standing in cool water in about an hour - get this - texture being of fresh (slightly blanched) flavor of nearly fresh sweet peas which are quite sweet. I was thourghly amazed never having seen anything dehydrated like this. I expected "cup a soup" peas or at best military dehydrated (which are quite good) but these were astounding. They are quite sweet almost like freeze dried strawberries a little crunchier out of the can for a snack. We now use these instead of frozen to cut down on the freezer space and frozen pea bacteria count and burn. They are cheap too!

excellent to keep in the pantry

I love keeping these on hand to just reach in the gallon can and get out a handful to put into my brown rice pilaf or one of my homemade soups recipes. They cook quickly and taste delicious.
